Years of hard work, proper nutrition, and constant effort finally paid off this August when I competed in my first NPC bodybuilding show. None of this would have been possible without my coach Dan Margolis. Over the years not only did he become someone who I look up to, he became someone I look up to like a big brother. Dan guided me in all parts of my prep and made my first contest an amazing experience. Everything I have accomoplished is because of him and I am blessed to have someone like him in my life to guide me.

My name is Jake, I am 45 years old and have been training for about 19 years, and thought I knew what I was doing fairly well; but I could never get quite to where I wanted to be. I have trained hard, tried different methods of training, and just about every fad and supplement that is supposed to help, as well as enlisting the help of various trainers over the years that were supposed to be goo at what they do.  Still to no avail i could never seem to reach that goal I had in mind for myself.

 

I met Dan just over 3 years ago and explained my perdicament.  Dan took me on, trained me, and did my diet program as well. I can honestly say that 3 years ago was the first time I ever reached my goal of having a really good beach body. it was the first time in my life I ever had a six pack! Dan took me to a new level in just 14 weeks. I cannot say enough about his knowledge of the science and art of training and nutrition. His professionalism and dedication is unlike any other trainer I have met, and in 19 years I have met a whole lot. they calim to be great and really just want to take your money. You will find that any time spent with dan is the best investment in getting in shape you will ever make.

 

This year I decided to take it to an even higher level and enlisted Dan to train me for my first bodybuilding competition. To my delight i brought home two trophies on my first attempt. The day of the show I was carved from stone. 

 

One last thing I would like to note is how well Dan was able to work with my injuries. I have 3 herniated discs in my low back. Dan designed specific exercies and routines to not only keep my pain level down but I was actually able to strengthen my low back considerably. For the first time in years I can train back and legs without beign in pain. 

 

To sum it up... if you are thinking of using a trainer; I highly recommend you hire Dan. You will find none to his equal. He loves what he does and is the best at it i have had the pleasure to meet!

I was leaving for FL on vacation in 3 months and I felt like I was getting too soft in the midsection. I always saw Dan training other guys bigger than me and I thought that if there was anybody who could help me obtain my goal of losing
bodyfat, while adding muscle, it was Dan.  I was right!

I met with Dan, we went over my goals, he devised a nutritional plan
and a weight training plan and we got started.

Within 2 months, I lost 25 lbs. and was down to 14% Bodyfat.  I
started out at 215 lbs. and am currently 184 lbs. (31 lbs.
total) just a short 3 months later.  I couldn't have doen it with out Dan!

My name is Jackie Couch.  I've been lifting weights for 5 years and I love how resistance training positively affects ones physique.  I watched my first bodybuilding show in May 2010, and I knew at that point I wanted to compete.  I knew Dan Margolis was the one to get me on stage.  I knew I had a long way to go tho, being naturally slender and a runner.  I started intense, consistent workouts with Dan in June 2010.  He monitored my progress weekly, as well as dietary adjustments.  He taught me all the posing required and also my routine. Dan was great at working with my schedule, being a married working mother of 2 young sons, and was as flexible as I needed him to be. By December 2010, just 6 short months later I did my first Figure Competition for NABBA.  I placed 2nd in Ms New Jersey Figure, and 3rd in Figure for my class. I never realized how much dedication and real work is involved with not just the trainee, but the trainer as well.  Dan was there every step of the way, encouraging and guiding me, and giving me the confidence it takes to get on stage.  This was one of the most memorable experiences of my life, and I could not have done it without Dan.

I started training with Dan in January 2007. I had been working out on my own for over 10 years but found myself struggling to  see any real changes in my body. I was at my heaviest weight ever at 155lbs- and couldn't seem to lose any weight despite spending 6 days a week in the gym on cardio and weight training. I had almost convinced myself to accept a slightly larger me as part of the next chapter in my life( I would be turning 40 int he fall of 2007) but I wasn't really happy with myself. Even worse, I was concerned with the pattern of gaining an average of 5lbs/year over the past 3 years. If I continued at that pace, Id be significantly overweight and unhealthy by my mid-40's. 

 

Dan spent time getting to know me-my goals as well as past training and dietary habits. He didn't just put me on a one-size-fits-all plan. He treated me as a unique individual and took the time to understand how I responded to training and diet. Dan developed a training schedule to fit my busy lifestyle and walked me through all the exercises, showing me proper form, weight, and repetitions. I started seeing results after only a few session with Dan, and decided in March to start training for a Figure competition. In addition to modifying my training plan weekly, Dan also tailored a diet plan to meet my specific needs and to get me in competition form. As an added bonus, Dan used his experience and knowledge as  competitive bodybuilder to prepare for the stage including guidance on proper attire, posing technique, tanning, etc. In just 7 weeks I lost 23lbs and weighed 127 on April 28, 2007 for the OCB Core Nutritionals Natural in Richmond VA. I competed in 3 divisions and placed in each:2nd in Novice, 3rd in Masters, and 4th in Open. While the trophies were quite nice, the greatest rewards from this experience were: renewed self-confidence, greater knowledge of my body and how it can and will respond to proper training and nutrition, and the courage to make some difficult but positive changes in my professional and personal life. I went on later that year to win a competition. It was the most incredible life changing experience. I turn 40 this month and fully expect this to be the best decade of my life. I cant thank Dan enough for sharing with me the tools to become a better me than I've ever been- on the inside and the out!

Sherry Perper- Figure/Physique Competitor

I first was introduced to Dan through a previous client and friend at my current gym. I told them I was interested in doing a figure competition and they instantly told me Dan was the Man to help me do this and do well at it. I contacted him and he instantly made me feel comfortable and told me he could help me. Being 44 years old and having 3 kids was a challenge within itself everyday. I had previously done triathlons, marathons, and cycling events but this proved to be the most challenging endeavor yet.  Not only did I have to be on target with my workouts but also the timing and preparation of my many meals. Dan  was without a doubt, the most patient and understanding trainer/coach and he went above and beyond for me always. From his many emails to always being available by text, his constant guidance pushed me to do better at this then I ever thought possible. I found it mind boggling that he could tell me what I would weigh at the end of the week, and he was always within a ½ pound. He took the time to get to know my body and make the correct changes at the correct times for me to look my best for my show.  When it was all done I placed 2nd at my first show. I never thought that would of even been possible. Thank you Dan for pushing me through those tough days. You truly love and excel at what you do and it shows!!

I first met Dan approximately 4 year ago when he started working at the gym. A friend and I wanted to “step up” our weight lifting routine and had discussed hiring a trainer. Dan was offering a free training session so we thought “why not?” We were immediately impressed with Dan’s confidence, his knowledge, and his “can do” attitude so we decided to give the new guy a try! Four years later, I’m still working out with Dan and I couldn’t imagine training with anyone else. After about a year of working out with Dan, my body fat was approximately 21% which was amazing for someone in their early 40’s! Unfortunately, I sustained a back injury unrelated to lifting and was side-lined for almost 9 months. During that time, Dan continued to support me and checked on me constantly. After months of medical tests, physical therapy, and not being able work out, I was finally able to stat a walking routine. Dan continued to offer support and encouragement as I gradually increased the time I could tolerate walking. The day I was cleared to start weight lifting again was one of the happiest days of my life! Dan worked with me and my physical therapist , incorporating my stretches, etc. into our weight training sessions. It’s been 2 years now and my body fat is 22% which is very good for someone with my limitations. I couldn’t have done any of this without Dan! Not only did he offer his expertise and knowledge in getting me back into shape, he provided much needed emotional support to help me cope with the mental aspects of my physical limitations. I can honestly say that I owe a lot to Dan- knowledgeable, compassionate, and loyal to a fault-you couldn’t ask for more that that from your trainer!

I started training with Dan a few months after having my second child. I have always been a “frequent flyer” at the gym, but I was finding it was very hard to shed the post baby pounds through my regular aerobics classes. I now have been training with Dan for over 2 years. Dan has pushed my body harder than I ever thought possible. His program challenged me physically and mentally to take my health to an uncompromisable level. By working with Dan, I not only significantly improved my physical condition but acquired lifelong fitness and nutrition habits as well as anew perspective on both what my body deserves and is capable of achieving. I will be forever grateful for the “strength” Dan has given me.

In the last two years, Dan Margolis has pushed me to a level of fitness that I never could have imagined possible. His encouragement, knowledge and faith in me allowed me to not only participate in a figure competition, but also to place first in my age category. As a woman in my late forties, I thought that my days of looking and feeling good were behind me. However, Dan’s positive thinking not only stopped me in my tracks, but showed me that, through dieting and weight lifting, I could achieve goals that I had never even reached when I was younger.
